The former president of Cyprus, Tassos Papadopoulos, has withdrawn a long-running libel suit against the Financial Times after an agreed statement in court. The case concerned a report, published in July 2002, following an FT investigation into the Belgrade government's illegal transfer to Cyprus in the 1990s of billions of dollars in cash in order to avoid UN trade sanctions.
