Just how far British circus lags behind its European counterparts is demonstrated once again with the arrival of an overseas troupe that seems effortlessly to incorporate character, narrative and even philosophy into its trickery. Zinzin won't be the most spectacular circus you'll ever see, but it is completely charming and in its fearless high-wire walkers, fantastical tumblers and pyrotechnics you get a glimpse of an almost medieval world.
This is a piece in which faith is tested all the time. There are no safety nets. But there is also a really joyous quality to the work, a sense of dressing up and showing off. The whole piece is played on a single truck and there are only four performers, wonderfully exotic, mismatched creatures who race about like naughty children. They fly because they dare.
Till Sunday. Box office 0131-530 3557.
