Books Unlimited launches reading group

guardian.co.uk

Monday October 30, 2000

The Books Unlimited reading group is a chance to read and discuss books with other book lovers. We'll be discussing one book a month, choosing the next month's book when the discussion starts - so there's plenty of time to read up.

The reading group is run through the Books Unlimited talkboards, where you can also join in with or begin discussions on all matters literary. You need to register to use the talkboards; for an easy guide to how to do it, click here.

Once you're registered, you can find the reading group here. Each book up for discussion has its own thread or discussion area, and you can also nominate books you'd like to read in the future.

During November we'll be discussing Rose Tremain's Whitbread Prize-winning novel Music and Silence, about a 17th-century lute player at the Danish court. December's choice is very different: Paul Auster's Timbuktu is a tale told by a dog who does indeed live a dog's life, torn between solicitude for his tramp master and a longing for bones.

January's choice is still up for grabs; you can post your nominations here.
